Petrol price down by 15 sen 0

Hey, what do you know? Now that inflation has hit a record high of 8.5%, the Government has announced a price cut of petrol by 15 sen to RM2.55 per litre. This applies to RON 97 petrol. Also, diesel is down by 8 sen.

Another sneaky covert move in time for elections perhaps? Whether propaganda or general concern for the Rakyat, it is probably a welcomed move, looking at the rising prices food, utility and general cost of living. Perhaps the Government should have thoroughly thought about the initial petrol price hike before deploying such hefty implications on the people. And the RM600 rebate. *Pfft* Lame. I relate that to digging a bigger hole that the one they’re already in.

Will we see people lining up for 2 hours to fill up their tanks then? Only in Malaysia.

40% Fuel Price Hike. Fantastic! 0

Our dearly beloved Prime Minister has announced a price hike for petrol to RM2.70 per litre. That’s a higher than expected increase of 40%. Will this spur public outrage? It already has.

“God willing I hope Malaysians will not demonstrate over this,” he said, referring to fury over earlier hikes in a country where public transport is poor and most people are reliant on their cars.

Hahah. Was that a joke?

Inflation is set to increase to 5% this year. Oh, and it’s supposed to be a consolation that Malaysia has one of the lowest petrol prices in Asia. Wow, I’m impressed. For an oil producing country, the Rakyat does not seem to benefit from the rich natural resources Malaysia has. And God I sure hope that for the RM17.4 billion the Government is saving, they plan to spend a huge chunk of that to drastically improve our public transport. Bring it to the levels of our neighbours Singapore or another fine example of a great, efficient public transport system – Hong Kong. Maybe then people will be less dependent on their cars and not complain about petrol hikes!

Oh, and don’t panic. And don’t rush to pump petrol tonight.

Heh.
