Perodua Myvi scores 5-star ASEAN NCAP crash rating

2018 Perodua Myvi

The third generation Perodua Myvi has received a full five star rating in the ASEAN NCAP crash test. This makes it the first for the love of the nation to receive such a high rating.

If you’re driving the first or second generation Myvi, you would’ve known that the crash test was never their strong point. Both generations only scored a total of three stars in the ASEAN NCAP crash test, making it relatively “not as safe as it should be.”

Rival Proton was first to the line to achieve a full five stars with B-segment competitor Iriz, which accomplished the feat in 2015.

However, when Perodua unveiled the second generation facelifted Myvi back in 2015, it scored a total of four stars in the crash test rating thanks to the use of stronger materials.

But with the new generation, the Myvi is now safer, stronger and also smarter. On top of the stronger materials thrown in to the Myvi, it also adds on a total of six airbags for the 1.5L models (1.3L models receive four airbags).

It consists of two frontal airbags and side airbags for the driver and front passenger, as well as two curtain airbags. The latter can also aid the rear passengers in the event of the car rolling over during a crash.

Also, the Myvi now comes with seat-belt reminders for all seats including the rear passenger seats. Adding on the Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) and you’re in good hands.

As stated in the previous post, the top-level Myvi is priced at MYR55,300 on the road excluding insurance, while the base 1.3L is MYR44,300. It comes with a 5-year/100,000km official Perodua warranty (whichever comes first).
