Star Wars: The Last Jedi official trailer is out and it’s epic

Star Wars: The Last Jedi
There's something about Rey.

You’ve peed in your pants waiting for it, and now it’s here. Yes, go watch it. The trailer for the much-anticipated Star Wars sequel is in the wild, and it’s just exploding with details. And it looks damn good. December feels so far away. But tread with caution, some spoilers inbound.

Following from the smash hit The Force Awakens, the story continues with Rey training with Luke Skywalker. Luke is seemingly terrified at how powerful his apprentice’s raw Force ability is, reminding him of a certain Kylo Ren.

“I’ve seen this raw strength only once before,” Luke quips. “I didn’t scare me enough then. It does now.”

Whoa.

There’s splices of AT-AT Walkers and never before seen white wolf-like creatures. Supreme Leader Snoke makes an appearance, looking a lot like Smeagol.

Snoke talks about a gifted someone he came across years ago, full of potential and is “something truly special.” At first you’d think he was talking about Kylo Ren, but it’s obvious who he’s referring too when the focus switches to Rey holding a lightsaber.

There’s something about Rey.

There’s splashes of aerial battles, and a showdown between Finn and Captain Phasma. We can see Chewbacca and the much-loved BB-8.

We get to see moody Kylo Ren at the helm of a TIE Silencer fighter, involved in dogfighting action, and a confrontation with his mother General Leia. I dread to think what happens next.

But perhaps the most important scene of all is towards the end of the trailer. Rey says, “I need someone to show me my place in all this,” and the camera pans to Kylo Ren’s outstretched hand.

Will the special connection between the two powerful characters be finally revealed? Are they siblings as we suspect? Or is it just their connection via the Force?

We’ll know soon.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens on 15 December 2017. Tickets are available for sale now.
