Pre-order the Galaxy Note8 starting 5 September

Samsung Galaxy Note8

Still abuzz over the delicious-looking Samsung Galaxy Note8? What impressed you most? Was it the Infinity Display? Or the ground-breaking new dual-camera? If you’re already sold on Samsung’s next generation flagship phablet, here’s some good news. Once again, Malaysia will be amongst the first countries in the world to receive the device.

Just as it did with the Galaxy S8 and S8+, expect a special bundle and exclusive goodies to come with each pre-order. You can stay updated on official pre-order details at Samsung’s official pre-order page.

According to a source close to Samsung, the major telcos and select retailers are ready to announce respective pre-orders as well.

Until now, there has been no announcement on Malaysian pricing, but if pricing from our southern neighbours Singapore is any indication, we may be looking at something circa MYR4,000. The Galaxy Note8 retails for SGD1,398.

As a quick recap, the Galaxy Note8 boasts a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display. Under the hood, it rocks the top-of-the-line 10nm octa-core Exynos 8895 mated to 6GB of RAM. In the US and certain markets, the phablet will sport a Snapdragon 835 chip.

Storage options are 64GB, 128GB or 256GB, but it looks like we will be getting the 64GB initially.

As mentioned in an earlier post, the Note8 packs various biometric authentication options including an iris scanner, fingerprint scanner, and facial recognition.

The beautiful glass-metal body has IP68-rated dust- and water-resistance, and it comes with a 3,300mAh battery that supports Fast Charging and Fast Wireless Charging.

Its ground-breaking feature is the new 12MP dual-camera system which comprises one 12MP f/1.7 aperture wide-angle lens with Dual Pixel AF, coupled with a 12MP f/2.4 telephoto lens. The unique camera system delivers 2X optical zoom, and up to 10X digital zoom.

The S Pen is further enhanced and boasts several new tricks including improved screen-off memo and the ability to translate whole sentences by hovering.

Again, the pre-order period runs from 5-10 September, and retail availability is expected to be from 15 September onwards.
