The judging panel at the recent Telecoms Asia Award 2017 said yes to YTL Communications, recognising the operator’s excellence and leadership in VoLTE service.

YTL Communications emerged winner against regional finalists including Reliance Jio (India), SK Telecom (South Korea) and SmarTone (Hong Kong).

The young telco was crowned “Most Innovative Voice Service” for being the first mobile operator in Malaysia to provide nationwide VoLTE service.

YTL Communications through its brand Yes has built the largest all-4G LTE footprint in Malaysia, with over 85% population coverage. Yes commercially launched its 4G LTE and VoLTE service in June 2016.

Alongside the service rollout, it also introduced the most affordable VoLTE-enabled phone in the market–the Yes Altitude.

Wing K. Lee, CEO of YTL Communications was present at the awards gala dinner to receive the coveted award.

The prestigious Telecoms Asia Award is in its 20th iteration. It rewards innovation and outstanding performance by Asian service providers and industry executives.

Nominations are made by the judging panel and Telecom Asia readers, as well as the Telecom Asia editorial team. Final selection is then done by an independent panel of industry experts.

Judging criteria includes innovation, financial performance, technology, market leadership and corporate governance.
