If deductions prove correct, ZTE brand Nubia may be bringing its dual-camera totting Nubia M2 device to Malaysia on 6 April. Details are scarce aside from a photograph of ambassador Cristiano Ronaldo holding what appears to be the stated device.

Just a couple of weeks ago in China, Nubia released a strong portfolio of devices including the Nubia M2, M2 Lite and N2. There was also talks of the Nubia Z17 mini, rumoured to be launched in late March. However, that has been vapour thus far.

The headliner, Nubia M2, is the brand’s first device with a dual-camera setup.

Priced in China for CNY2,699/MYR1,734, the Nubia M2 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC. It’s coupled with 4GB of RAM with either 64GB or 128GB of onboard storage. Storage is upgradeable via microSD, up to 200GB. It uses a hybrid dual-SIM tray setup.

The device packs everything a modern smartphone should including 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, USB Type-C, and GPS.

As mentioned, it boasts a dual rear camera setup with dual-LED flash. Both cameras are 13MP sensors. The setup emulates the dual-camera setup of Huawei’s famed Leica setup—one sensor captures full colour information, while the other monochrome. Both lenses have sapphire glass protection, and boast f/2.2 aperture.

For selfies, it has a strong 16MP f/2.0 aperture with an 80-degree wide-angle lens.

It comes with a fingerprint sensor built into the home button. There’s also support for Dolby Sound 7.1 and Hi-Fi audio.

Keeping the device juiced is a 3,630mAh battery with NeoPower fast charging support. It runs Nubia UI 4.0 based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Will be dropping updates soon. Stay tuned!
