Maxis Plant-A-Blessing Ang Pow

The ang pow, or the red packet is synonymous with Chinese New Year celebrations and a huge part of Chinese tradition. A symbol of good luck, the ang pow is typically given by the elders or married couples to single people or younger ones.

I’m sure we all love receiving ang pows (as much as we do giving them out), whether it’s during Chinese New Year, birthdays, special occasions (or no occasion at all). But ever noticed what happens to ang pow packets after you’ve emptied them?

Some store them, but most of the time, these packets end up in the garbage bin. What if packets were eco-friendly? What if they could grow?

Well, Maxis has an ingenious solution. They’ve come up with a Plant-a-Blessing Ang Pow that’s made from plantable seed paper. Each plantable ang pow has space for an ang pow giver to write a personal wish or blessing. The receiver can then “nurture” and “grow” the ang pow in the year ahead.

All you need to do is plant the ang pow in soil, watering it with care to activate the embedded seeds. Then watch them sprout into a flowering plant.

It’s brilliant really. And you’ll be literally “making your money grow.”

Made specially for Chinese New Year, you can receive a set of Maxis plantable ang pows free with any new phones purchased via Maxis Online Store until 11 February 2017.
