Android Nougat update rolling out for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge

Samsung Galaxy S7

If you’re a Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge user, then here’s some good news. Samsung is finally rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to devices. Availability will likely be region-dependent, so if you haven’t received the OTA update, hold your horses.

Samsung organized a beta program about a week ago, and Galaxy Beta program participants will see the update first. The update is reportedly 214MB in size, but will be even larger if you’re not running a pre-release version of Android 7.0.

The Samsung update comes about five months since Nougat was introduced officially.

Nougat brings a slew of new features, user interface and user experience changes. There’s various performance modes to choose from, as well as improved Notifications feature, and Quick Settings button.

The update also brings improved usability of Multi Window, Settings menu and AOD features.

In terms of performance, the update brings more efficiency in terms of downloaded apps, improved speed of system upgrade and app installation.

The OTA update will be Android 7.0 Nougat, and not the latest 7.1.1, although the security patch is dated 1 January.

No sign of the update in Malaysia just yet (I just checked). Have you received your Samsung Nougat update yet?
