Vivo V3Max ‘faster than faster’ smartphone debuts in Malaysia

vivo V3Max launch

The vivo V3Max has made its way to Malaysia. The ‘faster than faster’ Android smartphone packs some impressive hardware and costs under MYR1,500.

The V3Max made its debut in India just last week. The China phone maker has been rather quiet since the launch of the vivo X5 Pro last year.

But that’s about to change.

At the Malaysian launch, vivo Malaysia’s CEO Mike Xu said that vivo has the aspirations to be a world-class enterprise and it will continue to expand its sales and service centres across the globe.

Vivo currently has over 3,000 sales office and service centres in Malaysia.

V3Max is faster than faster

In terms of looks, the V3Max is crafted with an aluminum magnesium alloy body and feels pretty good in the hands thanks to its zircon sand-coating. Weighing just 168g it’s pretty light, and it measures a commendable 7.58mm thick.

It features a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display with 2.5D glass, protected by Gorilla Glass 3 on top. Round the back, it features a 360-degree, superfast fingerprint sensor that unlocks in 0.2 seconds. The sensor can also be used to activate the camera. Handy for those selfies.

Under the hood, it packs the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor that runs at 1.8GHz, mated to an Adreno 510 GPU. The V3Max is one of the first phones in the world to feature this new processor from Qualcomm. It carries 4GB RAM and 32GB of storage onboard.

The rear shooter is a 13MP unit with PDAF and LED flash. Focus is claimed to be fast, locking focus within 0.2 seconds.

On the front it packs an 8MP wide-angle selfie camera.

Just like the X5 Pro, the V3Max features a Hi-Fi audio chipset. It utilizes an AKM4375 DAC that was developed specially for vivo.

The V3Max is a dual-SIM 4G LTE (Cat. 7) device, and also packs Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11n/ac and GPS.

Vivo is touting the big 3,000mAh built-in battery that’s in the V3Max. Additionally, it pairs with vivo’s proprietary charging technology called Dual-Charge Circuit, that provides superfast and safe charging.

A short charging time of just 5 minutes can give you up to two hours of non-stop music playback.

In the software department, the V3Max runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, with Funtouch OS 2.5 on top. It’s the latest iteration of vivo’s mobile OS, and comes with various smart features including smart gestures, memory management, split-screen multitasking, and more.
