Austrians break Guinness World Record for 92-hour LG OLED TV marathon

LG OLED TV Marathon

Can you imagine watching TV for 24 hours? That’s over 20 episodes of House of Cards straight. And that’s unbelievable. You know what’s more unbelievable? A bunch of crazy Austrians in Vienna, Austria, just broke the Guinness World Record by one hour. Total time watched? 92 hours. No kidding.

The previous feat was achieved by a Canadian team, who held the world record for 15 months.

The new record-holders comprise five Austrians – Zivan Pajkanovic (23), Nadine Pauser (20), Johannes Spilka (19), Markus Waldl (24) and Dominik Zeller (24). The team watched various Sky Austria programs on LG OLED TVs continuously for four nights and five days (15-19 March), only taking five-minute breaks every hour.

Members of the team were selected from more than 400 interested applicants on LG’s Facebook page.

LG sponsored the record attempt, constructing a living room-style studio at a popular furniture store on the city’s most visited shopping street. The studio was equipped with reclining chairs, stationary bicycle, refrigerator and a 55-inch LG OLED TV.

An official from Guinness World Records was present to confirm the record-breaking feat. The record-holders were presented with a Guinness World Records certificate, a new TV and complimentary 12-month subscription to Sky Austria.
