Apple expected to showcase iPhone SE, new iPad at 21 March media event

Apple Event 'Let Us Loop You In'

Apple has sent out invites for its special media event entitled ‘Let Us Loop You In,’ happening on Monday, 21 March 2016. The event will kick off at 10AM PT and will take place at the company’s Town Hall auditorium, at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino.

Apple is highly anticipated to be revealing the much-rumoured 4-inch iPhone SE, new 9.7-inch iPad and new Apple Watch bands. Might there be Mac refreshes? Who knows? Never say never.

What’s almost certain though, is the iPhone SE. Targeted at the crowd that doesn’t want a big phone, the smallest iPhone ala iPhone 5c, will integrate the latest hardware. This includes the Apple A9 chip, new camera and possible NFC support for Apple Pay. It’s rumoured to look identical to the iPhone 5s. Rumours also point to the inclusion of the 12MP rear shooter from the iPhone 6s.

Next up is the 9.7-inch iPad aka iPad Air 3. A recent report from 9to5Mac has suggested the new iPad would take on the iPad Pro name to complement the bigger 12-inch iPad Pro. It is expected to have identical features to its bigger sibling, so it includes the Apple A9X chip, upgraded RAM, four-speaker set-up and the Apple Pencil. Additionally, the Smart Connector and Smart Keyboard will debut.

Apple might be looking to simplifying the iPad line-up, with sources slowing down production of the older iPad mini 2 and iPad Air models.

On the Apple Watch front, Apple is set to introduce new colours to existing bands, as well as all-new bands like the rumoured nylon band and Space Black Milanese Loop.

As usual, Apple will be streaming the event live on its website, and through Apple TV. You’ll need to have Safari to watch on your Mac, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. And if you’re on a PC, you’ll need Microsoft Edge on Windows 10.
