Safer Internet Day (SID) 2016 is celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide and has the primary objective to raise awareness on emerging online issues. This year, it fell on Tuesday, 9 February with the theme ‘Play your part for a better internet.’

So Google is sending 2GB of free storage your way. All you need to do is head over to Security Checkup to get started.

You’ll be asked to set a secondary email, mobile number and check a list of your connected devices as well as permissions settings. If you don’t have a strong password, it is recommended you set one.

The 2GB storage is reflected instantly once you’ve completed the Security Checkup and stays permanent.
