Want it fast and cheap? Maxis brings you Hotlink FAST

Hotlink FAST

Everything is about the internet. And being connected. It’s about being ‘always on’ and never missing out. And thus we need connectivity. We need it to be fast. Well, Maxis hears you. Meet Hotlink FAST – the prepaid that’s made for speed.

Two years ago, Maxis completely revamped its prepaid service — the new #Hotlink – a groundbreaking new plan that offered free basic internet at no extra charge. For just MYR8.80 for a Starter Pack that included MYR5 pre-loaded airtime, the new #Hotlink was a fantastic reboot, made for the data-hungry, internet generation.

Needless to say, the new #Hotlink was a hit, breathing new life to Maxis’ prepaid business, aided by the music lifestyle-driven “Live. Life. Loud” motto.

But alas, customers want more. More quota. More speed. More everything. And so, to meet the demands of internet-bred users and/or Millennials, Maxis brings Hotlink FAST. Still Hotlink as you know it. But better, faster.

Hotlink FAST

So how is it better, faster?

Hotlink FAST offers consistent fast surfing speeds of up to 20Mbps (as so claimed) for both indoors and outdoors, 80% of the time. This of course delivered on Maxis’ 4G LTE network.

You will also enjoy low-cost Internet add-ons, for as low as MYR12 per 1GB. In addition, you’ll get one low flat rate for calls and SMS to all networks (6sen per 30seconds, 1sen per SMS to friends and family via Activ10).

What comes with Hotlink FAST?

The starter pack is priced at MYR15 (compared to MYR8.80 with #Hotlink) and comes bundled with MYR5 pre-loaded airtime, 300MB pre-loaded high speed internet.

You can purchase additional Fast Internet Pass, which gives you speeds of up to 20Mbps on any 4G LTE device. Here’s a breakdown of cost and quota of the Fast Internet Pass.

Hotlink FAST plans

As you can see, you get separate quotas for “All Network Quota” which means when you’re in 2G/3G coverage areas. “4G/LTE Quota” is used when you’re within a 4G network.

You can buy additional data quota if yours gets depleted, for just MYR12 per 1GB. This is highly affordable, compared to MYR30 per GB with #Hotlink.

Also, Maxis promises zero buffering on YouTube with HD videos, 96% of the time.

How to get the new Hotlink FAST

Visit your nearest Hotlink Dealer or Maxis Centre to buy the Starter Pack. If you’re an existing #Hotlink customer, you can upgrade to the new Hotlink FAST plan via the Hotlink RED App.

Head over to ‘My Account’ and select ‘Change’ next to ‘Rateplan.’ Alternatively, you can dial *100*6*1# from your phone. Remember to Dial 222 to activate your SIM.

Initial thoughts

A timely move by Maxis to meet demands of today’s mobile customer. There’s no denying that high speed internet is important. Just as important if not more important than ‘always on’ connectivity and internet quota overall.
