If you can’t beat them, join them. Whether you like it or not, the ‘selfie’ craze is here to stay. Sony Mobile is one of the mainstream phone brands that has acknowledged the trend, and has released two selfie-centric phones to the Malaysian market Xperia C5 Ultra Dual and Xperia M5 Dual.

The Xperia C3 and Xperia C4 were Sony’s first attempts at the ‘selfie’ market, and the Xperia C5 Ultra is simply a bigger sized successor. It comes with a 6-inch Full HD IPS display wrapped in the Xperia’s signature OmniBalance design. It’s near bezel-less design means you get a bigger screen, without the bulk.

You’ll notice the big 13MP camera on the front, true to its selfie-centricness. It features a 22mm wide angle lens and armed with a soft-LED flash light for perfectly lighted portraits, even in low light. Sony’s PROselfie mode gives you Superior Auto that delivers the best selfies in day, night and in backlit situations. The rear also gets a 13MP Exmor RS shooter.

Internally, the Xperia C5 Ultra is identical to the C4, powered by an octa-core MediaTek MTK6752 processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. There’s microSD expansion for you to store all those selfies.

Battery life is claimed to last up to two days, thanks to the 2,930mAh battery unit, boosted by Sony’s famed STAMINA Mode.

The Xperia M5, on the other hand, is a higher spec-ced mid-ranger with waterproofing to boot. It sports a 5-inch Full HD display and powered by the excellent 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor with 3GB RAM. It gets 16GB of on-board storage with an option to expand further via microSD.

In the camera department, it gets a massive 21.5MP Sony IMX230 camera module that comes with Hybrid Autofocus, combining Phase Detection AF and Contrast Detection AF. Together, they deliver a swift and accurate 0.25s focus time. Never miss a shot.

Despite its slender 7.6mm profile, the Xperia M5 comes integrated with a 2,600mAh capacity battery that Sony claims will also deliver you up to two days of battery life.

Both the Xperia C5 Ultra and Xperia M5 are dual-SIM, dual-LTE phones supporting Cat4.
