If you love to travel or take selfies or maybe both, then two new Sony compact cameras may be perfect for you. The Cyber-shot DSC-HX90V and DSC-WX500 are the world’s most compact cameras in their class, packing pro-style features and picture quality minus the bulk.

If you like to frame your photos the conventional way, the HX90V features a pop-up OLED Tru-Finder and Control Ring for step zoom or manual focusing.

Both cameras will keep images sharp even if you’re on the outer limits of the camera’s zoom range, thanks to 5-axis image stabilisation.

ZEISS needs no introduction, for super high quality optical lenses. The massive 30x optical zoom ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* is claimed to be super sharp delivering distortion-free images even at high-zoom settings.

If you need even high zoom, Clear Image Zoom boosts zoom levels to a gargantuan 60x with Optical Steady Shot and 5-axis image stabilisation. Goodbye wobbles and blurry images.

The compact duo also get Fast Intelligent AF system inherited from the award-winning A7 series of cameras. This means super fast autofocus, even when capturing fast moving objects.

Shoot better movies with Full HD 60p/50p5 using the XAVC S6 format at 50Mbps. P/A/S/M modes give you added creative control, while Intelligent Active Mode utilises 5-axis image stabilisation for steady moving shots.

In low light, you can make use of the built-in flash, and if you need to share content over to your phone or tablet, you can via Wi-Fi with NFC.

Battery life isn’t something you should take likely, and neither has Sony, bundling the NP-B1 battery that allows up to 400 shots on a single charge.

The DSC-HX90V also has a GPS that can automatically tag your shots and clips with location information.

Pricing and availability

The HX90V is priced at RM1,599, while the WX500 is priced at RM1,199, available in July.
