This can only happen in China. Merely a week after the launch of the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, a true-to-life clone has surfaced from China and can be had for only US$140. Yes, US$140. Called Sophone i6, the device comes with a similar sized 4.7-inch display but not quite Retina HD-beating resolution.
iPhone clones have existed since the original iPhone in 2007, and we’ve seen everything from terrible knock-offs running some form of Java OS to now, running Android. This will not be the last of iPhone copies coming out from Copyland, that’s for sure.
At first glance, the Sophone i6 is uncannily like the original, even to the Lightning port. Diving further, you’ll see it come equipped with a 4.7-inch IPS OGS ARC display (960 x 540 pixels) and MediaTek’s quad-core MT6582 processor running at 1.3Ghz. Mid-range at best but does come with a generous 2GB RAM.
Storage is paltry at 4GB but does support up to 32GB external TF storage.
It also comes expectedly with a 13MP rear-facing and 5MP front-facing camera. The built-in battery is rated at 1810mAh.
The Sophone i6 is dual-SIM capable, ships with Android 4.3 and it’s socheap at US$140.
Our advice? Say no to fakies. But if you’re brave or stupid or both… head along here.
