Huawei today unveiled the highly-anticipated Ascend P7 flagship smartphone in Malaysia, alongside a slew of other 4G LTE-enabled devices and a wearable. The Ascend P7 is the best from Huawei, offering a premium build, top-notch features including a superior camera. The new flagship comes just within a few weeks of its international launch.

In his product presentation at the launch today, Gary Xu, Country Director, Consumer Business Group, Huawei Technologies Malaysia said, “The Ascend P7 encompasses the needs of the consumer for a durable and sophisticated device that brings an excellent balance between form and function. But beyond the exterior, our latest flagship also packs an unparalleled camera experience and ultra-fast performance, redefining excellence in its entirety.”

Huawei’s best in under 6.5mm

The Ascend P7 packs a 5-inch FHD INCELL touchscreen display supporting 1920×1080 pixel resolution (@ 455PPI), housed in a metallic-look body forged by a seven-layered rear surface treatment. It’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 in both front and rear. With a profile of just 6.5mm thin, it is one of the slimmest 4G LTE smartphones in the world.

The new flagship is kitted with a 1.8Ghz HiSilicon Kirin 910 quad-core processor, proudly homemade by Huawei, and packs 2GB RAM, runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat, enhanced by Emotion UI 2.3.

Huawei touts the Ascend P7’s 13MP rear camera, that comes with a non-spherical f/2.0 lens with Back Illuminated sensor (BSI). By adopting an Image Signal Processor (ISP) that “mimics those found in professional digital SLRs” including autofocus, white balance and noise reduction, the Ascend P7’s photo-taking capabilities are expected to be excellent. Additionally, the rear camera can be activated within 1.2 seconds from double-clicking the down volume button when the device is locked.

Huawei is taking the ‘selfie’ lifestyle seriously, packing a 8MP non-spherical lens equipped with IMAGESmart 2.0 software, ensuring high-resolution, super sharp selfies. That’s not all, it comes built-in with 10 level auto-facial enhancements in beauty mode, including a “groufie” function – a panoramic selfie mode for a large group of people.

The world’s third largest smartphone vendor in the world is also making sure the signal reception of the Ascend P7 is top notch – integrating a dual antenna for optimum signal reception for ultra-fast 4G LTE. Built-in smart network switching technology reduces battery drainage in event of weak signal reception.

The Ascend P7 is powered by a 2,500mAh battery.
