Jom menge-pin! The much-loved visual bookmarking and social sharing platform – Pinterest – is now officially in Malaysia, and in Bahasa Malaysia, too. Malaysians can now access a BM version of Pinterest via the Pinterest website, iOS and Android apps.

Since its inception in 2010, Pinterest has grown to over 48 million active users daily (February 2013, ComScore). Last year, Pinterest launched in more than 20 languages and will continue more translations in 2014.

“We’re excited to help Pinterest fans explore the things they love to do in Bahasa Malaysia,” said Matt Crystal, Head of International, Pinterest. “Pinterest Malaysia already has an active pinning community with our most popular categories including fashion, travel, crafts, food and home décor. Today’s localization is a first step toward helping pinners discover their interests and hobbies in an entirely new way.”

So what exactly is Pinterest? For those who don’t know, Pinterest is a virtual inspiration board that allows you to ‘pin’ things online. Like how you would pin messages, cut outs and such on a bulletin board.

You can literally pin anything you want and organize them into different category boards to share. You can have as many boards as you like.

For instance, I have a Design Inspirations, Technoindulgence, Petrolhead Pleasures, Nom Nom, , Favorite Places & Spaces and Sportstastic boards, among others.

It’s a great place to be inspired, share and inspire others in the process.

Add your friends to your Pinterest account and follow them as you would on other social networks.

Pinterest isn’t only for the general consumer. It is also a great tool for businesses to reach out to consumers. Plenty of brands have jumped on the bandwagon and many are highly-successful at engaging their customers through Pinterest.

So start pinning, discovering, sharing.
