The Music Run by AIA: Running for fun with Hotlink

The Music Run

The Music Run

Run, walk, dance and most importantly, have fun. That was the order of the day at the world’s first The Music Run by AIA, the most unique running experience ever held in Malaysia. The exciting 5km fun run took place at Selangor Turf Club in Sungai Besi on Sunday, 23 March 2014. Maxis’ prepaid service, Hotlink, was the Official Telco Partner for The Music Run.

The unique run featured five 1km music zones representing different music genres – Pop Divas, Indie Rock, Pop Kings, Hip Hop and Dance Music. Hotlink hosted the Pop King’s zone, where runners took part in a variety of games and activities such as snapping selfies with celebrity impersonators as well as the chance to take home exclusive goodies and prizes.

Maxis sponsored my run, as well as four passes for VERNONCHAN.COM readers. It was certainly a run to remember, having to wake up at 5.30am to sweat it out later. It was also brilliant to see the thousands who thronged the event so early in the day, taking part in a healthy, fun activity. Definitely a change from our daily sedentary lives in front of the computer or mobile phone.

Before the flag-off, we were put through a grueling 15 minute warm up session by trainers from Fitness First, whom I questioned their intentions, as I felt the warm up felt more like an actual gym session. Or is it because I was unfit? Oh well.

The flag-off was slightly later than scheduled, and not before XXX, founder of The Music Run gave a very short speech to kick things off. Celebrities Poova Plackchiak and Patricia Knudsen, official The Music Run ambassadors, were seen handing out goodies and props to runners at the start line.

Thanks to the thumping music and various activities along the beautiful route at the Turf Club, the 5km didn’t at all feel like 5km. It was all over by around 8.30am despite me taking my time. I really had fun though, and I’m sure all the other runners, young, old, very young and very old, had plenty of fun too.

At the finish line there was plenty of other activities including performances, lucky draws and retail booths by Air Asia, AIA, Boost Juice, Huawei, Hotlink, New Balance and more.

The Music Run is owned by Fresh Events Global and promoted by Exceed Sports & Entertainment. SIA is the Presenting Sponsor for the Kuala Lumpur run. This is the first time a run of such a nature has been done, and Malaysians are lucky to be part of a world’s first.

For Hotlink, being involved in such a fun, interactive event is in line with the brand’s fun and dynamic nature. The one-of-a-kind event is just one of many exciting events that are lined up for this year.

#Hotlink, the brand’s game-changing prepaid plan, is the only prepaid proposition that offers an ‘always connected’ internet experience with continuous free basic internet and high speed internet for just RM1 per day. Read my review on #Hotlink.
