It’s Game Over for Flappy Bird

It's game over. Again.
It's game over. Again.
It’s game over. Again.

So, the meteoric rise of a certain bird comes to an abrupt end. Flappy Bird, the top iOS game also available for Android, now ceases to exist on either app stores. The highly popular game has been pulled by its creator Don Nguyen. This will most certainly mean that the Windows Phone version scheduled to be released this week will not be released.
The retro game has enjoyed over 50 million downloads, and raking in over US$50,000 per day for its maker.

However, it looks like the unexpected success of the game has put tremendous pressure on Nguyen, who tweeted this yesterday, ““I am sorry ‘Flappy Bird’ users, 22 hours from now, I will take ‘Flappy Bird’ down. I cannot take this anymore.”

Being a success story, Nguyen has struggled with his new found fame, including the limelight he’s receiving from the press, even in his own country.

He said, “Press people are overrating the success of my games. It is something I never want. Please give me peace.”

It isn’t known if the frustrating game will be blocked in any way on user-installed devices.

Nguyen did say he will still be developing games, but perhaps none that resembles a certain flapping bird. Not for a while, anyways.

Flappy Bird, game over.
