AMD has unveiled the AMD Radeon R9 Series of graphics cards, ushering a new era of gaming defined by new generation UltraHD displays, renewed game engine development and next generation gamers who expect even more immersive gaming experience. AMD also introduced Mantle and AMD TrueAudio technology for unprecedented audio and performance enhancements for supported games.

The new Radeon R9 and R7 Series GPU feature the award-winning Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture, which continues to be a driving force behind AMD’s Unified Gaming Strategy. The Unified Gaming Strategy is AMD’s partnership with the world’s top game developers to establish a comprehensive portfolio of games that maximise their full potential with AMD Radeon hardware.

The four pillars of the Unified Gaming Strategy are console, cloud, content and client – unified with the introduction of Mantle.

With Mantle, games like DICE’s upcoming “Battlefield 4” will speak the native language of the GCN architecture, providing an unprecedented level of hardware optimisation. Mantle assists game developers in bringing games to multiple platforms by leveraging commonalities between GCN-powered PCs and console. With Mantle, AMD solids itself as the leader in providing fast and efficient game development platforms.

More details pertaining Mantle will be revealed at the upcoming AMD Developer Summit, APU13, taking place November 11-13 in San Jose, California.

Alongside the new GPUs, AMD introduced AMD TrueAudio technology that empowers game developers with a programmable audio pipeline on the GPU. Developers can program in-game audio the same way that programmable graphics has brought hyper-realism to PC graphics. Enabled games can feature more realistic environmental dynamics, richer tapestry of sound effects and breathtaking directional audio.

The audio technology enhances audio realism by simulation the human brain’s perception of real world sound, recreating a lifelike experience in upcoming games like “THIEF” by Square Enix, or “Lichdom” by Xaviant Games.

The next-generation AMD Radeon GPUs signals a new chapter in AMD’s support for stunning display configurations – now supporting UltraHD (3840×2160) display; and non-tiled 2160p60 display with future AMD Catalyst driver release.

AMD Radeon Series includes the R9 290X, R9 280X, R9 270X, R7 260X and R7 250X. No release date nor pricing has been revealed.
