Alienware Launches Alienware 14 and Alienware 17 Gaming Notebooks

Alienware today launched the Alienware 14 and Alienware 17 gaming notebooks powered by the latest 4th generation Intel Core i7 processors (“Haswell”), latest NVIDIA 700 series graphics and new stealth-like, anodised aluminium and magnesium alloy enclosures. The new notebook range were recently revealed at E3 in Los Angeles, along with the most powerful 18-inch gaming notebook in the world – the Alienware 18.

The gaming-themed launch held today at Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) Signature at The Garden mall was attended by Dell Country General Manager, Khoo Teng Guan; National Sales Manager of Intel Malaysia, Norhizam Kadir; Dell Consumer Product Manager Andy Tan; and South Asia Brand Manager – Alienware, Laurence Lee.

Khoo who came aptly dressed in a General’s uniform, said this his opening speech, “As a serious gamer, you need to make a choice. Choose Alienware.”

Alienware 14 for the enthusiast

The Alienware 14 is targeted at the enthusiast gamer who is looking for mobility yet gaming performance to boot. Underneath its radical new industrial design, 60% of which are composed of heavy metals including anodised aluminium (for its LCD cover) and magnesium alloy base, is the latest 4th generation Intel Core i7-4900Q quad-core processor rated at up to 3.8Ghz.

The Alienware 14 also features next generation NVIDIA GeForce graphics – the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M with 2GB GDDR5 ensuring power to not only play graphics intensive games, but also running resource intensive apps like video editing and creative content development tasks.

The gaming notebook features up to 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz RAM, total of 768GB storage (512GB RAID 0 (2x256GB SSD) and 256GB mSATA SSD). With the optional SSD, the Alienware 14 weighs in at 2.774kg. Based on customer feedback, the Alienware 14 now features an anti-glare LCD display for reflection-free gameplay, and also a premium Full HD panel option with IPS.

Alienware 17 for the hardcore

The Alienware 17 is for the hardware gamer wanting an immersive gaming experience, but may occasionally need to travel. It also features the radical new ID, inspired by jet engines and stealth bomber.

Powering the Alienware 17 is the 4th generation Intel Core i7-4900MQ quad-core processor, over clocked up to 4.0Ghz, up to 32GB DDR3L 1600Mhz RAM, and featuring next generation NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M graphics with 4GB GDDR5.

The Alienware 17 comes with up to 1.5TB RAID 0 storage (2x750GB 7200rpm) and 64GB mSATA SSD caching. The powerful notebook has an optional 3D panel for an even more enhanced immersive visual experience.

The Alienware 17 notebook weighs in at 4.15kg with the optional SSD hard drive.

AlienFX to go

Synonymous with Alienware products is the AlienFX lighting control system that give the new notebooks 20 colours to choose from across 10 different lighting zones, with a possible 10 trillion lighting combinations! Over 60 game titles like Anomaly2, SMITE and Neverwinter support AlienFX, offering a more immersive gaming experience.

The updated Alienware Command Center 3.0 allows intuitive, user-friendly access to Alienware exclusive applications and controls in one convenient hub, which includes customising the AlienFX lighting system. ACC also features AlienAdrenaline, a custom configurable game and app automation tool, the new Accelerator dynamic performance optimiser and a new performance monitoring tool.

Alienware X51 – compact gaming desktop

Alienware also previewed its updated award-winning Alienware X51 gaming desktop. The new X51 packs performance and improved technology, without the bulk of a big box, or big budget. The compact chassis houses 4th generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, graphics of up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670, dual hard drive configuration of 256GB SSD and 1TB storage for fast boost and bigger storage capabilities.

To complement the new Alienware notebook family, Alienware revealed Alienware Vindicator notebook bags, including a backpack, messenger bag, slim carrying case, briefcase and neoprene sleeve. The entire series carry the stylish industrial design of the gaming laptops and feature sturdy, weather-resistant materials and reinforced handles and straps.

The Alienware 14 and Alienware 17 notebooks, and Alienware X51 desktop are available today. Alienware Vindicator notebook bags will be available in the coming weeks.
