The ASUS-made Google Nexus 7 has been recognised as the Best Mobile Tablet at this year’s MWC Global Mobile Awards. The acclaimed device is the first tablet to receive this honour, with the award category being introduced just this year.

The Global Mobile Awards is an annual event held in conjuction with Mobile World Congress (MWC), the world’s largest and most prestigous mobile conference.

The judges had this to say about the 7-inch Google and ASUS tablet: “This tablet has brought credibility to the 7-inch category and taken it to the mass market, with the perfect combination of performance and portability. A great all-rounder.”

The Nexus 7 is Google’s answer to the tablet market still dominated by the Apple iPad.

Nexus 7 comes with an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor that runs at 1.2GHz and comes with Android 4.2, the latest version of the world’s most popular mobile platform. The talented tablet isn’t a stranger to industry acclaim and adds the recent award to its growing list of accolades – including T3’s prestigious 2012 Tablet of the Year and Gadget of the Year.
