Ever wished you could upload your pictures the minute you take them on your camera? Sure, you’d probably compare that with your smartphone, but I’m pretty its not 16MP with a 21x super long zoom lens. Meet the Samsung GALAXY Camera, the truly ‘Connected Camera’, with 3G and Wifi connectivity, powered by the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) equipped with a 4.8″ HD Super Clear Touch Display,  21x super long zoom lens, a super-bright 16MP BSI CMOS sensor, and software featuring the “Smart Mode” and “Photo Wizard”.

Here at Ciao Restaurante, Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd’s Managing Director, Kwon Jae Hoon said, “The introduction of the Samsung GALAXY Camera epitomises how cameras have evolved over time. Today, we set users free from restrictions of a conventional camera with the Samsung GALAXY Camera. The collaborations between the Mobile and Digital Imaging Business Units has allowed Samsung to create a truly Connected Camera.”

The Samsung GALAXY Camera will be available trough all authorised Samsung retailers for RM1,899 from 29 November onwards with the first 5000 customers being awarded a FREE Hotlink Broadband SIM pack by Maxis Berhad, Malaysia’s leading integrated service provider and Samsung’s data partner. This offer will be available nationwide at selected Samsung retailers, as well as Maxis Centres in KLCC, Sunway Pyramid and Gardens Mid Valley. Upon activation with a RM30 top up, customers will get 2GB of data, 25GB Loker personal cloud storage space and a one-year SIM validity period.

Product Features and Highlights

‘Smart Mode’
The Smart Mode is a series of 15 default modes and settings to enable every user to shoot and deliver professional-looking photography effortlessly. Coupled with the 16MP BSI CMOS sensor and a 21x super long zoom lens, this mode should help newbies and professionals alike in delivering good quality images.

‘Photo Wizard’
This function encompasses a set of 35 photo editing tools powered by a 1.4GHz quad core processor. Alternatively, users can utilise the “Paper Artist” app, made popular by the Samsung GALAXY Note II, for quick and unique photo edits.

Android Powered
One of the most unique features in this Camera would be the fact that it is Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) which turns this camera into a fully functional multimedia platform, not to mention that it integrates a 3G SIM and Wifi network abilities. Besides that, you’ll have access to Google Play and gives full browsing support.

The Usage Theory
While this isn’t a review, I would suppose that social media junkies would love this camera. Its ability to upload, download and capture high quality images within the same device is interesting and would genuinely improve the speed of sharing. Now I wish there was an auto-watermark feature integrated for those in publishing though, would seem to be an interesting tool for fast, simple and high quality uploads. Tumblr fans would love this too, (likely) but as we all know, having too high quality images for the web isn’t normally a good thing. So, what are your thoughts on this product?
