Howdy, dear avid gamers! John Carmack has spoken! QuakeCon 2012 is officially opened to visitors on 2nd August 2012. At this point, I can’t help but wish that I could go there and do some live reporting for you readers.
For the general masses who don’t really know much about the ultimate video game festival, QuakeCon is not just about LAN parties, it also features prominent developers from the interactive entertainment industry. So, expect people like Marty Stratton from id Software, Ted Price, President and CEO of Insomniac Games, Chet Faliszek and Tom Leonard from Valve Software, and Geoff Keighley, host of Spike’s GameTrailers to be there, having good old fun.
Well, you can’t just call it ultimate just because some celebrities are, can ya? To make things interesting, exhibitors and sponsors will also be showing off their prized goodies, here are the list of exhibitors:
- Intel Americas Inc.
- CSN (Cyber Sports Net)
- BAWLS Guarana
- Cooler Master
- CPU Magazine
- FSP Group USA Corp
- IN WIN Development
- Interceptor Entertainment
- Modders Inc.
- Symbiote Studios
- Minecraft PVP
- Minecraft EDU
- Western Digital
Not only that, living up to it’s title, QuakeCon also allows visitors to demo the latest game, Dishonored by Arkane Studios and DOOM 3 BFG Edition, the one game that rocked the whole FPS genre.
News aside, remember to visit vernonchan.com often to know more about QuakeCon, the Tokyo Game Show and GamesCon which are coming up.
Fun facts: QuakeCon BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer), the name is self-explanatory, to join the QuakeCon LAN Party all you need to do is carry your rig to the festival and sign up for it!
