HP recently announced solutions that will enable telcos to provide customers with highly personalized mobile experience as they move to high-speed Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks. Malaysian telcos are expected to roll-out 4G LTE in late 2012.

HP has expanded the HP Actionable Customer Intelligence portfolio with two key offerings designed for communications service providers (CSPs):

  • The HP Home Subscriber Server (HSS) solution, which supports multiple networks, is enhanced with mobility management features that help CSPs migrate smoothly from 2G/3G networks to LTE networks.
  • The HP Subscriber, Network and Application Policy (SNAP) management solution now integrates real-time charging (billing) so CSPs can apply business rules that allow personalized services and offers to customers.

“LTE is both a challenge and an opportunity for CSPs, as it levels the playing field for intense ‘co-opetition’ and opens the door to new revenues,” said Lim Bee Wah, Country Manager, Enterprise Services, HP Malaysia. “HP is helping CSPs use their unique assets to forge personalized, loyal customer relationships that can lead to entirely new revenue streams.”

The HP Home Subscriber Server (HSS) solution, now at version 5.1, includes features such as seamless fallback from LTE to 2G/3G, as it is expected that legacy networks and new LTE networks will co-exist for some time. HP HSS 5.1 also enables HD Voice over LTE (VoLTE) for delivering digital multimedia services. The solution also enables voice calls between LTE and 3G networks, translating to a seamless service over multiple networks.

The HP SNAP solution is a integrated, real-time platform where CSPs can develop insightful policy and charging rules that enable personalized, context-aware offerings for customers. Such offerings can include tiered pricing plans, content packages, customized service bundles, and real-time up-sell offers. This can enhance customer experience, increase loyalty and generate more revenue.

LTE is specified by the ITU as “4G”, with peak download rates of up to 300Mbps and upload speeds of up to 75Mbps.
