Samsung Galaxy S II: King of the World!

Samsung‘s flagship superphone – the Samsung Galaxy S II (SGSII) has beaten Apple’s iPhone 4 to the punch to clinch the title of Phone of the Year Award, by T3. It’s the first time ever that the award has not gone to Apple or HTC.
“The Samsung Galaxy S II is a gorgeous looking phone with slick operation, a great social hub and the best camera on any smartphone to date,” says Luke Peters, editor of T3. “It has great integration with Samsung’s TVs and a screen that matches the iPhone 4.”
Many have the opinion that the Samsung Galaxy S II is the best Android phone ever, and I share a similar view. The super fast, light and slim SGSII has certainly set the bar high for the Android market and has shown how far Samsung has come in terms of technology and design – in both hardware and software.

In just five months from its launch, Samsung has sold over 10 million units of SGSIIs worldwide, its best-selling smartphone to date.

Samsung is currently in fierce battle with Apple over patents globally, and this is expected to continue, an indication of how competitive the race for smartphone dominance has become. Apple’s successor to the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S is set to go on sale in key markets on Oct 14.

Apple may have missed out on the Phone of the Year award, but it didn’t go home empty-handed, winning three awards. The MacBook Air 11-inch won the T3 Design Award and Computer of the Year, while the iPad won Tablet of the Year.

Microsoft took the big award for its intuitive Kinect, the Xbox motion sensor gaming accessory, which won both Gaming Gadget of the Year and overall Gadget of the Year.
