The Ultimate Hennessy Artistry Party Experience, Penang – Day 1

When you’re presented with an opportunity to go on a 4 day 3 night, all-expenses paid, party-till-you-drop experience, what do you do? You don’t say “no”, that’s for sure. Hennessy Artistry did just that for ten selected bloggers and five members of the media last week. As part of H-Artistry “The Global Art of Mixing” Experience, the 4D3N adventure took exclusive partygoers (me included) to Penang and back, completely pampering us with top class accommodation, food, opportunity to rub shoulders with the stars and totally hot people, partying and a whole lot of drinking!

We were specially flown via Malaysian Airlines from KL-Penang last Thursday. The crazy bunch included bloggers – Josh Lim, Jason Ong, Rebecca Saw, Esther Ng, ShanTee Lim, Vivian Khoo, Bryan LYT, Xiang, Leonard Chua, Michelle Lee, Bella Chua, Nicole Foong, Venice Min, Adli chaperoned by Helenness Chong, Suki (from Hennessy), Daniel and Jason Kong (from Milk PR). The 55-minute journey was thankfully short and once we grabbed our luggage and exited Penang International Airport, we were greeted by our very own H-Artistry pimp mobile – a 40-seater express bus, our sole mode of transportation for the next couple of days.

All that’s Suite and Dandy!

We made our way to The Northam All Suites where we checked in and freshened up. To say the rooms were big would be an understatement. I swear there was an echo when I spoke to my roommate Xiang. Huge, huge room. Great for after parties :P. We were all certainly famished by then, so off to Gurney Drive we went. The food wasn’t great unfortunately but we gobbled everything down anyways – from char kuay teow, to pasembor to satay. Burp. Such gluttony!

It was rush, rush mode after that. We were shipped back to the hotel to freshen up and don our best party clothes before the big event. The dudes came down in their coolest while the ladies, sizzling hot! If the party didn’t fire us up, we certainly made it several notches hotter!

Party On!

The venue – Voodoo, Penang. We had exclusive access to the venue pre-party where we got to meet the event host, the very yummilicious Fay Hokulani and performers of the event – Spinderella, Vandalism and Kyoto Protocol. Plenty of camwhoring and sexy poses, as you’d expect. Not a bad thing. 🙂 I’ve never been to a club at 7pm before, but this was pretty cool! There were interesting tech-powered games including a “Fruit Ninja” type game played on an iPad 2 (oh yes!) which also had a competition leaderboard. I sucked and scored only 26 points. Josh led at some point while I trailed in 8th spot. There was also an electronic mixing table when 5-6 participants would move tokens around to create different beats and sound. The art of mixing ‘live’. Nice.

In between taking photos and hanging out, we got to sample the four mixing flavours – Berry, Apple, Citrus and Ginger. Very, very addictive, especially Apple and Berry. We entered the venue proper and were led to a VIP area. We felt like stars. Much more drinking followed, as we were joined by others. The crowds were trickling in and started to pack the venue. This was around 9pm. The dynamic duo of Miss Eva T and DJ Lizz got the party kicking hard with club and electro tunes. There was much jumping and hopping! Top stuff. Later, rocksters Kyoto Protocol did their set. Their rendition of Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” was awesome though I do like their own material. This is a stupendously good band. Australian duo Vandalism gave a cracking, entertaining set which lasted till the later hours. Fun, fun, fun.

Sneaked out later to savour Penang goodies down the road. The famous Sup Hameed was just too good to pass on, including nasi lemak bungkus. Heaven.

We got back to the hotel close to 3am and I didn’t sleep till 6.30am, busy uploading pics and blogging. What a day. What a night! Enjoy the pics.
