Amateur Photographer’s Dream – the new Canon EOS 1000D DSLR

This is interesting. At 10.1MP and coming in at RM1,999, the Canon EOS 1000D DSLR is incredible value for amateurs (like me!) looking to start photography. I have been contemplating a purchase of the 12MP EOS 450D but that’s 50% more expensive, although spec-to-spec comparisons would put the 450D several notches ahead.

The EOS 1000D is a successor to the 350D. Some specs at a glance:

  • 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor
    EOS integrated cleaning system
    7-point wide-area AF system with f/5.6 cross-type centre point
Up to 3 frames per second
2.5in LCD with Live View shooting
    DIGIC III image processor
images stored on SD and SDHC memory cards
    Compact and lightweight body
Digital Photo Professional RAW processing software
Fully compatible with all Canon EF and EF-S lenses and EX-series Speedlites

So, the RM2,999 450D or the RM1,999 1000D? Hmmm. Decisions, decisions!
