TMNet Blocks All Non-Streamyx SMTP Outgoing Mails. WTF?

If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I just received this notice from my ISP this morning:

Please be informed that affective 3rd Dec 2007, Telekom Malaysia Berhad had blocked OUTBOUND Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) traffic or port 25 for all out going e-mails from dynamic IP addresses. Only Outbound SMTP traffic from smtp.streamyx.com and smtp.tm.net.my will be allowed. With this implementation, Streamyx customers who have their own mail server (Example: mail.YourDomain.com) will not be able to send out e-mails using email
program.

TMNet, you better have a bloody good reason for this move. I am highly unimpressed by this and seriously do not appreciate you blocking this service without any form of written notice. Outgoing SMTP mail is something I consider critical in the running of my everyday business. If I hadn’t received the note from my ISP, I wouldn’t have note. I had attempted to send several SMTP mails from my domain mail server and was extremely frustrated that it was not going through.

I am appalled and frustrated at you. Again. I think you need some lessons in consumerism and customer service. If you require training, and I do recommend it, let me know. I can recommend you a really good trainer.

PISSED!
