Ever since I got the ‘tiny but mighty’ iPod Shuffle for Christmas ‘06 (thanks baby J!), it’s been my trusty companion at the gym during those cardio workouts. It’s really a blessing being inconspicuous and just incredibly light and small. Sometimes you forget it’s even there - clipped to my sweat-soaked t-shirt.
I absolutely despise the passionless pseudo-dance, techno crap they play over the PA system at the gym. Total turnoff! I swear if they ever play that dance remixed ‘We Are The Champions’ track again, I’d sue them for pyschological trauma and loss of sanity.
The 1GB capacity is more than sufficient to satisfy my aural needs. With a maximum capacity of around 240 songs, I’ve only got around 40 in my playlist, specially selected for my workouts. I prefer the hip-hop/rap genre and a pinch of dance there and there. My current favs, which gets my butt going are listed below (in no particular order):
- Tipsy - J-Kwon
- Control Myself - Jennifer Lopez featuring LL Cool J
- Can I Get To Fuck U - Jay-Z featuring Ja Rule + Amil
- Work It - Missy Elliot
- Promiscuous Girl - Nelly Furtado
- Beep - PCD featuring Will.i.am
- Come To Me - P.Diddy featuring Nicole PCD
- You’re All I Need - Mary J Blige
- 1, 2 Step - Ciara featuring Missy Elliot
- One Thing - Amerie featuring Jay-Z
So what’s shuffling on your ‘Pod?

It’s a major relief. Zen, our beloved Golden Retriever was found later in the evening – tired, but alive and well. After the suspected dognapping fiasco, which in the end wasn’t true at all, Zen is back in our safe hands, much to the relief of my dad who was awfully upset in the earlier part of the day.
A Chinese lady found Zen and actually approached several pet shops and veterinary clinics to inquire about the owner. Unfortunately and rather baffling, was the fact that she did not leave a contact number. Several of the pet shops and clinics she visited were actually visited by my dad earlier as well. In fact, one of the clinics which Zen had visited for treatment before acknowledged a lady calling them up about a Golden Retriever with a cataract problem.
To cut a long story short, the frantic search – which also included me sending text messages to pet rescuers (thanks, Ad!) and my dad doing his rounds around the neighbourhood, ended when my dad spotted Zen tied up in a house compound belonging to an Indian family. Apparently, upon failure to locate the rightful owner of the dog, the Chinese lady had placed Zen at the Indian house as the kids took to liking Zen, and the fact that she already had a dog in her compound.
My dad of course claimed Zen back, and thanked the kind lady who found him as well as the Indian family who housed Zen safely.
We’re all happy. The family is complete again!

I just got a call from my dad less than an hour ago. We’ve lost Zen. The beautiful Golden Retriever I adopted in July. The mild-mannered golden mane companion we’ve all come to love. Not due to illness or death but by way of suspected dog-napping. My dad was obviously very upset, and was swearing (which he normally doesn’t) over the phone. I am shocked and very upset by this. How it could have happened? Someone took the opportunity to enter the home compound via the unlocked gate. Zen, being the friendly dog he is, must have warmed up to the thief. And the thief knowing too well how friendly Zen is. I am surprised Bond, my more aggressive Labrador did not protect his ground. He could have been round back where it is cooler.
Whatever it is, Zen is gone. A dognapping right from our home. How’s that for a start to the new year?
I also came to learn of a burglary at my friend’s house in Rawang today. It happened yesterday and was actually on air over NTV7. Her house was broken into, her RM6K Powerbook, ten thousand in cash (which she kept with her mom for safekeeping) and gold, jewellery and such. Losses amounting to over RM20,000.
What’s the world coming into?
Hang on, that’s not all. My buddy Faeez whom I worked out at the gym with yesterday told me about his trainer Kim (and also my soulmate Addie’s trainer, btw). Kim’s brother was involved in a hit-and-run incident last week. He was riding a motorbike and was hit by a car. The car obviously disappeared immediately after. Hurt, he called out for help, only to be robbed of his belongings and his bike by several Mat Rempits (Mat Cemerlang my fucking ass!) and left unconscious by the roadside.
Tell me this is real. Tell me this is NOT fucked up.
I’m SO pissed today!
